In ognuno dei gruppi seguenti di versetti, è usata una medesima parola, ma questa ha il suo senso primario soltanto in un verssetto di ogni gruppo. Negli altri versetti è usata in senso secondario o figurato.
La traduzione proposta è in genere quella della Nuovissima Versione delle Edizioni Paoline.
Esempio:
IEP Luke 16:24 Allora gridò: "Padre Abramo, abbi pietà di me e manda Lazzaro a intingere nell' acqua la punta del dito e a bagnarmi la lingua, perché soffro terribilmente in questa fiamma".
IEP 1 Peter 3:10 Chi infatti vuole amare la vita e vedere giorni lieti, trattenga la sua lingua dal male e le sue labbra dal pronunciare inganno,

In ognuno dei seguenti versetti, le parole in corsivo sono usate secondo un senso figurato basato su un altro concetto con il quale sono strettamente associate. Riscrivete il passaggio usando un'espressione non figurata.

I significati intesi da un uso secondario e figurato sono determinati dal contesto in cui il termine è usato. Individuate il significato contestuale delle parole in corsivo e indicate che cosa nel contesto determina il significato che voi attribuite alle parole stesse.
1. IEP Mark 7:2 i quali notarono che alcuni dei suoi discepoli prendevano i pasti con mani impure, ossia non lavate. 3 I farisei, infatti, come tutti i Giudei, non mangiano se prima non si sono lavati accuratamente le mani, secondo la tradizione ricevuta dagli antichi;

5. VUL Acts 13:22 et amoto illo suscitavit illis David regem

La metonimia è la sostituzione di un termine con un altro a lui associato. Alcune lingue fanno uso raro di questa figura retorica, qualche altra non la usa per niente (cf l alingua Huxteco, Messico). In questi casi la traduzione deve provvedere a una riespressione che non faccia uso della sostituzione metonimica.
Considerato il senso delle metonimie in corsivo, dite qual è la relazione metonimica (temporale, spaziale, logica), e suggerite una traduzione alternativa che rimuova la figura e renda chiaro il senso.
Esempio: IEP Philippians 1:6 ho la ferma convinzione che Colui che ha iniziato tra voi quest' opera eccellente la porterà a termine fino al giorno di Cristo Gesù.
Risposta: "giorno" sta per l'avvenimento della "venuta", il tempo è sostituto per l'evento che capita in quel tempo. Relazione metonimica temporale.

La sineddoche è quella figura di discorso con cui il tutto di una cosa è detto per una parte, oppure una parte per il tutto, un individuo per la classe o la classe per l'individuo, o un attributo per l'insieme.
Nei seguenti passi, le parole in corsivo presentano una sineddoche. Dite di quale tipo di sineddoche si tratta, e suggerite una traduzione alternativa che esprima il significato in modo non figurato.

Una iperbole è una "figura retorica consistente nell'esaerare per eccesso o per difetto" (Treccani). Poiché sovente un'iperbole non può essere tradotta letteralmente in un'altra lingua senza dar luogo ad un equivoco, è necessario determinare il reale significato non figurato. Quale significato comportano le seguenti frasi iperboliche?
Esempio: IEP Matthew 11:18 È venuto Giovanni che non mangiava né beveva, e si diceva: "È indemoniato"
Risposta: È ovvio che la frase non è vera se intesa in senso letterale. Piuttosto, si intenderà: non frequentava i banchetti né beveva bevande inebrianti
cf NLT Matthew 11:18 For John the Baptist didn't drink wine and he often
fasted, and you say, 'He's demon possessed.'
cf GNB When John came, he fasted and drank no wine, and everyone said, ‘He has
